The law offices of HOLEC, ZUSKA & PARTNERS has been in existence since 1990. It is one of the Prague’s renowned law firms focusing on complex legal advisory and consulting services for the business and public sector. Its client base mainly consists of large multinational corporations and their local subsidiaries, as well as of notable local corporations, plus a significant number of state and public administration bodies (Ministries, Regional Authorities). Multi-disciplinary services: The firm maintains a close working relationship with several of the Big Four auditing and tax advisory houses and other professional bodies which enable it to provide a complex advice on all aspects of mergers & acquisitions, restructuring, investment incentives, project consulting and management, including PPP projects, public tenders and other major undertakings.

Partners: JUDr. Pavel Holec and JUDr. Karel Zuska are, besides being duly registered advocates, both registered as arbitrators with the Arbitration Court attached to the Economic Chamber of the Czech Republic and Agricultural Chamber of the Czech Republic. Both are holders of the international Certificate Intensive Program Working with the EU. JUDr. Pavel Holec is also a member of the Czech Bar Association’s Control Committee and has been awarded a lawyer of the year in the Development sector (2005). JUDr. Karel Zuska is a member of the Governing Committee of the Czech PPP Association and holder of the 2007 and 2009 award for his contribution to the growing PPP sector in the Czech Republic.

The firm is also an accredited educational institution for public sector and local administration officers within the framework of the programme for “Partnership of the public and private sector in the development of regions, cities and municipalities utilizing the national and European funding subsidies “.

Criminal liability of corporations

A new important law came into force with the beginning of the New Year - it is Act No. 418/2011 Coll., introducing for the first time in the Czech Republic the concept of a criminal liability of corporations. This new law also amended the existing Criminal Registry Act allowing it to maintain records and issue certificates of good standing in this respect to corporate entities. Certificates of good standing may be used, for instance, when demonstrating basic prerequisites in terms of qualification in various public tenders. The obligation to submit such corporate certificate does not exempt members of the corporate statutory bodies from obtaining the same for their persons.
